I’m Elizabeth, an American transplant living in Toronto, and have been tangled up in love affair with food for my entire life. I started this blog because I wanted to share my successes (and struggles) with weight loss and maintaining a healthy, balanced keto diet. I was secretive about my weight loss journey for many years, but realizing that my tips and recipes could benefit overweight children or adults pushed me to share.

I struggled with my weight throughout my childhood and into early adulthood, but after educating myself about those puzzling black and white nutrition labels – counting and recording everything I ate – I lost over 50 pounds. The weight came off, but it was hard, and I felt deprived for that entire period…. think rice cakes, tiny slices of hard brown bread, plain yogurt, and brown rice. Because I hadn’t learned how to maintain my weight, it would yo-yo as I went from eating whatever I wanted and then back to super restrictive calorie counting.

Once I stumbled upon the ketogenic diet, I was hooked. For the first time in my life I felt satisfied, full, energized, and nourished while losing weight. I’d finally found a way to be myself, enjoy eating with others, and create awesome meals! I even had the pleasure of educating friends, family, neighbors and colleagues about the keto diet so that they too could benefit from the weight loss strategy. I still consider myself married to food, but keto has enabled me to enjoy food without sacrifice.
